Working in Raumati
A major storm in 1976 eroded up to 15 metres of the Raumati coastline and destroyed most of the early protection works. The present seawall runs about 3 km along Raumati Beach.
The Paraparaumu delta blocks sand moving south, and seawall building since the 1950s has steepened, lowered and narrowed the beach.
